Physical Education (PE) at Poynter develops students’ physical literacy in a fun, friendly and inclusive learning environment with the aim of motivating and enabling students to live healthy and active lives.
Poynter PE provides the opportunity for students to showcase their talents competitively whilst developing skills such as sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership, via participation in a range of school and interschool sporting events. These events include cross country running, athletics carnivals, lightning carnivals and a range of interschool team sporting competitions including AFL, netball, soccer and volleyball. For our younger students, the focus is on developing fundamental movement skills.
Our program is delivered by a Physical Education teacher, who collaborates with various external sporting community and government organisations to supplement student learning via specialist sporting clinics. These include, but are not limited to, gymnastics, cricket, golf, ultimate frisbee, rugby league, soccer and AFL.
Poynter students are provided exclusive participation in before and after school activities, such as the Poynter before school Run Club, Hot Shots tennis, Poynter Netball Club training and AFL Auskick.
